Dr Jack Lau is Technology Advisor to Gembridge Capital. He holds a BSc and MSc in Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences from the University of California, Berkeley, a PhD in Electronic & Computer Engineering from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), completed post-doctoral research at Stanford University, and earned an EMBA from the Kellogg–HKUST Executive MBA Program. He is also a holder of multiple technology patents.
Jack is a seasoned technologist, entrepreneur and educator. He was the first PhD graduate in Electronic & Computer Engineering from HKUST, later joining the faculty and helping to build the university’s reputation in innovation and entrepreneurship. He has founded and led technology ventures from start-up through public listing, and has advised boards and investment institutions in Asia and the Middle East on digital strategy, AI adoption and innovation.
He has served as President of Qatar Science & Technology Park (QSTP), and continues to advise universities and corporates on AI strategy, data-driven decision making and technology translation. At Gembridge Capital, his special focus is on the practical application of artificial intelligence to support the firm’s investment and research activities.
